Read holiday-calendar settings

Understand holiday summary counts, weekly rules, calendar entries and the fields in the mark/edit dialogs.

For Administrator

On this page

Before you begin

  • An authorised Admin account with access to the relevant school settings or records.
  • Confirm your school and academic year. Names, dates, amounts and counts in the screenshots are fictional/demo examples.

1. Read the year, month and summary scope

Open Settings, then Holiday Calendar. The captured summary belongs to academic year 2026–27 and October 2026.

This Month, Upcoming and Academic Year count different scopes. The demo shows 6 for October, 35 from the capture date onward and 80 across the academic year; these are not three counts for the same date range.

2. Distinguish recurring rules from individual entries

Default Weekly Holidays has a selected year range and controls for All Sundays, All Saturdays and Alternate Saturday. The visible explanation defines alternate Saturdays as the second and fourth Saturday of each month.

Below it, Calendar shows the chosen month and a legend for Weekly holiday, Marked holiday and Selected. Read the actual date and label in a cell; the calendar selection is not itself proof that a holiday was saved.

The longer School Holidays list contains dated entries with Edit and Delete controls. A recurring-rule removal and deleting a single entry are separate actions whose outcomes are not verified here.

3. Read the Mark Holiday dialog

The Mark Holiday dialog shows a selected date, Holiday Title, Holiday Type, Starts On, Ends On and Description. In the example, School Holiday is selected and both dates are 16 October 2026.

The title is empty; “e.g., Diwali Break” is placeholder text. It is not the name of a saved holiday. The description field is described as an optional note for staff and parents.

4. Read an existing holiday in the edit dialog

The Edit Holiday example opens Sunday Holiday for 5 April 2026. Its title, type, dates and description are filled from that existing entry, with Cancel and Update Holiday controls.

This is a different date from the Mark Holiday example. The captures are field references, not a continuous create-then-edit sequence.
